Spectra Emission

  1. Add one spatula of each of the chlorides into four (4) separate watch dishes.
  2. Add10 mL of methyl alcohol into each watch dish.
  3. Turn down the lights, and light the alcohol/salt mixture in each dish.
  4. Observe and record the color in each dish.
  5. Place an Ar spectrum tube in the spectrum lamp.
  6. Turn on the lamp and use a diffraction grating to observe the light.
  7. Draw the light spectra produced.
  8. Do the same for the other gas tubes.
